About Stonecarrier.org.uk
admin @ December 14, 2008
Stonecarrier.org.uk is a site set up to capture the stories and poems of Caroline Keane as she travels on her ‘stone carrying’ walks in different locations around the world.
It also invites other storytellers, poets, bards and singers to contribute when and wherever they want. We’ll publish material here on the site and also as an audio podcast through iTunes.
One of the ideas behind this site is to use the mobile phone as a way of bringing narratives together. We wanted to create a stage on which everyone can perform – and the mobile phone makes that possible, since most of us carry one most of the time.
The idea is that you can use your mobile to call the 24/7 voicemail line on 01392 248575 and leave your story or poem. You can also use your mobile to send us a picture and text to accompany your story as a picture message to 07859 007060.
All you have to do is to make sure you introduce yourself and the name of the piece you’re reading / speaking on the voicemail and make reference to it in any text or picture message you send so that we can put it together on the site here.
Using the mobile is just one way to submit your work. You’re welcome to send your recordings as mp3 files and attach them to emails (along with any pictures and texts) to sam (at) mukaumedia.co.uk
If you’re a regular contributor, we’ll create a profile for you and links to your bio information and website.
Of course, any thoughts on how to develop this site we’d love to hear from you. As above, either leave a voicemail with feedback, text or email.
And don’t forget to check out our Twitter feed on the front page – a great way to build up a community of like-minded people who might be interested in what you’re doing.
